Antitrust Advisory’s economist Anastasia Shastitko took part in the conference “Law and Economic Issues of the Assessment of the State of Competition”

On 7 February 2020, Antitrust Advisory’s economist Anastasia Shastitko took part in the conference “Law and Economic Issues of the Assessment of the State of Competition” organised by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) at the St Petersburg State University. The speakers included Deputy Head of FAS Sergey Puzyrevsky and Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsyganov.

One of the issues discussed at the conference was the role of economic analysis in the antitrust policy. Head of the FAS Department of the Manufacturing Industry of FAS Nelly Galimkhanova and Deputy Head of the FAS Cartel Department Mukhamed Khamukov made their presentations at the session devoted to the Economic Issues of the Assessment of the State of Competition.

As part of her presentation, Anastasia proposed to enrich the toolbox of the Russian antitrust regulation with the UPP and GUPPI tests that serve to facilitate assessment of mergers in the markets of differentiated products.
