Antitrust Advisory advised PJSC SIBUR Holding and JSC TAIF on clearance of their merger by the FAS of Russia

21.07.2021

On 20 July 2021, the FAS of Russia cleared the acquisition of 100% of the voting shares of JSF TAIF (“Taif”) by a petrochemical company PJSC SIBUR (“Sibur”). Being the largest merger in history in the Russian petrochemical market, the transaction between Sibur and Taif received unprecedented level of attention from the Russian and foreign media.

Our firm acted as counsel to the parties in the course of merger clearance by the FAS of Russia. We consolidated information from the parties on hundreds of products manufactured by them in order to analyse the effects of the transaction.

As a result of the merger, the combined company will strengthen Russia’s position as an exporter of manufactured products in the global petrochemical market, at the same time fully meeting the needs of the domestic market.
