20 July 2021. The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia approved the application for acquisition of 100% of voting shares of TAIF JSC (‘Taif’) by SIBUR Holding PJSC (‘Sibur’). The transaction between Sibur and Taif attracted unprecedented attention from both Russian and foreign media, being the largest ever merger in the Russian petrochemical markets.
Our firm acted as a consultant to the parties in the process of coordinating the transaction with the FAS of Russia. The companies are manufacturers of hundreds of products, for which we consolidated information from both parties and analysed the effects of the transaction.
As a result of the transaction, the combined company will strengthen Russia's position as a non-commodity exporter in the global market for petroleum products and petrochemicals while fully satisfying the interests of the domestic market.
